Dr. Komor has broad experience from working in maximum security at the nationals largest walled prison, lifeguarding, high altitude and backcountry climbing, serving as a Special Deputy Sheriff and a Captain in the ASAF/AUX Civil Air Patrol and, of course, a 25 year career as a doctor of psychology consultant, college instructor, seminar leader and crisis intervention trainer.
In 1992 Chris released his first book The Power of Being which garnered international interest and made him the focus dozens of articles, and television and radio interviews across the United States. In the mid-1990s Chris founded a multi-disciplinary practice supervising an office of 14 healthcare professions of various specialties.
Several years later Chris helped found the OCD Recovery Center of America and the Anxiety Resource Center of Western Michigan. Dr. Komor has served on various boards and scientific advisory councils including the Obsessive Compulsive Foundation of Michigan. He concluded his clinical career with professional speaking tours of over 100 cities.
In the mid-2000s Dr. Komor started to shed his consulting offices and begin a journey into the backcountry of northern Arizona / southern Utah which continues today. As a Search & Rescue operator for various county sheriffs his heart has been captured by the stunning beauty of the American Southwest. His concern with social change has now combined with a love for the Earth and an awareness of the urgency of the environmental issues facing our planet. Dr. Komor believes, “For the current “green movement” to sustain itself and become something more than another fad or corporate gimmick we need Earth-Connection! We need to feel inside us a powerful connection to the land, sky and waters so that we would protect them like we would our family. To feel that deep a connection we need to find meaningful ways to bring the precious Earth to us if we can’t go to her. That is what KomorEarthImages is all about!”
Specializing in using his Search & Rescue training to reach photographic locations considered inaccessible to most Chris continues to fill his KomorEarthImages gallery with photographs that convey the spirit of the natural world and re-establish for those who enjoy them what has come to be known as Earth-Connection.
