The Power of Giving: A Couple Brings Smiles to Orphans and The Soldiers Project Responds to Veteran
This show describes two special gifts of giving. What you will hear in the heartfelt stories of the guests are the ways in which generosity offers tremendous benefits to both giver and recipient and invites us to “pass it forward.”

In the first segment psychologist, Dr. David Hescheles will share the personal story of how he and Nancy, his wife of 50 years, travel worldwide with an aim toward touching the lives of others. In this case, he shares the reason and the way in which they find and connect with the children of Adhartirth Adharashram orphanage in India. It is impossible to listen without feeling a surge of emotion on hearing the children’s delight and Dave and Nancy’s response.

The second segment of the show focuses upon The Soldiers Project, a national organization dedicated to providing pro bono mental health services for the veterans and families of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. In this segment, Host Suzanne Phillips listens as Dr. Judith Broder, Founder and Executive Director of The Soldiers Project shares the personal story and dream behind her decision to give back to those who have served.

The relevance of her gift is underscored by former 2nd Class Petty Officer, Roselle Able, who joins Suzanne Phillips and Dr. Judith Broder to tell her story. A veteran of 14 years, Roselle makes the challenge of returning home from Iraq painfully real. She also illuminates the role that The Soldiers Project plays in her life and the life of her daughter and family. To listen to this show is to receive a gift of giving.

A little information about the orphanage:
The name of the orphanage is Adhartirth Adharashram orphanage in Nashik (pronounced Nasik) which is 103 mile NE of Mumbai. It is for orphans of migrant workers who have died in the field and is run by private donations. There are 300 children there to age 16.
