Perfectionism: Help or Hindrance
In this show, psychologist and returning guest, Dr. Max Belkin invites us to consider the impact of perfectionism on our lives. In the back and forth with host, Dr. Suzanne Phillips, Dr. Belkin distinguishes healthy motivation to strive for goals and the all-or-none thinking and flawless functioning that perfectionism demands.

Using examples from college students, professional adults, married couples and children, Dr. Belkin discusses the way in which perfectionism lowers self-esteem and results in procrastination, anxiety, stress and reduced functioning. Dr. Belkin considers the causes of perfectionism as well as strategies for parents to help children and as well as "tame" perfectionism in their own lives. You will be motivated to self-reflect and reconsider our culture’s constant pressure to win, to have the perfect job, to be the perfect weight, etc.…..in order to be happy.
