James R. Duby, Jr.

James R. Duby, Jr. is an attorney and founder of the firm Duby & Associates, PLC in East Lansing, Michigan. His primary areas of expertise are trademark, copyright, trade secrets, Internet, business formation and transactions, corporate, secured transactions, tax law, international intellectual property law, and domain name disputes. Jim graduated cum laude from Youngstown State University in 1985 with a B.A. in business administration. He graduated cum laude from the University of Akron School of Law in 1989.

Jim is a frequent guest speaker on topics such as copyright, trade name and trademark protection, trade secrets, and corporate and tax law. He has also authored many articles. His professional affiliations include membership in the American Bar Association; the State Bar of Michigan; the Ingham County Bar; the Taxation, Business, Intellectual Property, Computer Law, and Antitrust Sections of the State and American Bar; and the Ingham County Bar Cyber Law Section. Jim is a volunteer counselor for Lansing Community College’s Small Business Development Center and is a member of the State Bar of Michigan’s Membership Services Committee. He has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Lansing Advertising Club and as a Team Captain for the Capital Area United Way.
