Welcome to April, one of my favorite months of the year! We have lots of great articles for you this month, as well as some very cool and much anticipated new features, both to our print publications as well as to our online community.
This month our feature article is from Dr. Carol Ann Fischer from Livonia. She has written a great article on the importance of hydration and the role that water plays in our health. Thank you Dr. Fischer!
We also are including beginning this month, a new feature to our publications - the introduction of contributing columnists. Dr. John Wycoff is our first contributing columnist and he follows up Dr. Fischer’s great article on hydration with a detailed article on detoxification and the numerous ways both to detoxify as well as the benefits that can be realized in our health and wellness as a result of those activities. We are honored to have both featured columnists and contributing columnists in our pages. Welcome Dr. Fischer and Dr. Wycoff, and thank you both for contributing such great articles to this month’s publication!
Along the lines of detoxification, we are also including an article on addiction this month. While there are many, many forms of addiction, this article will give you an overview of the current understandings and philosophies on addiction as well as general recommendations for treatment.
Sleep also plays a critical role in our health, so we’ve included an article this month on natural sleep aids. If you are one of the millions of Americans who suffer from sleep deprivation, in whatever form that manifests for you, these suggestions may prove beneficial for you to get a few hours more sleep a night. There’s no question that a good night’s sleep can go a long way to helping you to feel your best.
We have a great article on Kava, which in itself, can be a natural form of sleep aid, and is also a bit controversial in its use. Although more commonly taken as a supplement here in the States, in the South Pacific Kava is commonly used in a liquid form as a drink. It also can commonly be misused in the South Pacific, much in a similar vein that alcohol can often be abused here in the States.
One of the other articles we wanted to highlight this month is the Michigan law that is changing in April regarding cannabis. As that legislation was overwhelmingly passed in Michigan and does impact many Michiganders who suffer chronic pain, among other debilitating conditions, we wanted to feature the intent of the law as well as pass along some of the basics regarding the cannabis permit. Obviously, there is some amount of controversy regarding this new law, in particular as it relates to enforcement and to the concern that it will lead to more widespread use of harder street drugs. This article will help to highlight for you the specifics of the legislation as well as what you need to know if you are someone suffering from debilitating conditions.
Ayurveda is another topic that has become at least a more recognized word. Many though don’t really understand what it is, even though they do recognize the word so we’ve included a great article that will introduce you to the basics. It may prove to be a healing modality that you might want to learn more about!
We also have quite a few new features that will be coming soon to our website that we think you’ll really love. Stay tuned in the coming weeks for more ways to find relevant information for your health and wellness needs.
