Hypnosis is a transformational healing technique. Unlike energy work with the hands, healing with hypnosis is the energy work of words. Words are spoken in a comforting, soothing, low tone which conveys that someone is listening and cares, and helps to place the person in a relaxed state. Most hypnotherapists believe that the subconscious mind holds all the experiences and mental activities which are not in conscious awareness at any one moment. The conscious part of the mind controls a person’s sense of judgment and critical aspect of the mind. In hypnotherapy this critical faculty of the mind is by-passed and the subconscious mind is accessed, thereby increasing an individual’s suggestibility and potential for changing behaviors.
Most humans have habits or conditions that they do not consider good or healthy. We judge ourselves constantly for every slight misdeed. An example is the average smoker. Most smokers light up a cigarette and say, “This is going to kill me some day.” Some will understand that energy follows thought. And yet they persist in this thought flow. What if the smoker reached for a cigarette and thought, “I love my body” and continues to say so with every repetition of the habit? What if this person began to cherish each moment of his day, even the stressful ones? What if he began to treasure and respect his health, his freedom, and his future? This is a possibility with hypnotherapy.
Everyone has within them the ability to heal cuts, bruises, and broken bones. These are not supernatural effects. It is not a miraculous power but rather, the often unrealized abilities that all human beings possess. One way to avoid unhealthy conditions is to fortify the subconscious levels of the mind with uplifting thoughts and ideas so that the mind will no longer be susceptible to unwanted influences. Hypnosis is a transformational tool which enables the mind to use the abilities one already has to produce healing in all areas of the mind, body, and spirit.
Hypnosis enables one’s mind to accept suggestions that can increase self-confidence or assist in creative abilities to improve in desired areas. It can improve your learning abilities, help prepare for successful test taking, or eliminate phobias or fears. Hypnosis can be used in our personal healthcare in many ways including weight loss, traumas, child birth, and as an adjunct to chemical anesthesia in dentistry or surgery. When we get a true understanding of the process of hypnosis, we can recognize that it also occurs in the normal events of our everyday life. It happens regularly and frequently, unrecognized as a form of hypnosis. Probably the most common occurrence of the hypnotic state is daydreaming, which may vary from a light to a deep state of hypnosis. Hypnotic stimuli occur in everyday life including in meditation techniques, yoga techniques, rock music, and even certain types of poetry.
Going into a state of hypnosis is a perfectly natural experience and can be experienced only on an individual and highly personal basis. Many describe hypnosis as a deep, peaceful state of relaxation. In fact, the more you can relax, the more you will benefit from the helpful suggestions you receive. The person who is hypnotized is aware of everything the therapist says at all times, and is in control of all his/her faculties, including sight, hearing, taste, smell, and voice. The belief that the person in hypnosis is asleep or in a state of unconsciousness is a misconception as you cannot be hypnotized without your cooperation. Hypnosis has often been portrayed in the movies as a state where the person is under the control of the hypnotist. This is a misconception, since the individual always has the choice to accept or reject any suggestion according to their belief system.
These are some of the facts about hypnosis. It is the ideal state for achieving whatever you need to achieve. Hypnosis can assist you to heal your body, improve your study habits, develop self-confidence, reduce your body weight, overcome bothersome habits, and achieve the goals you desire to achieve.
